[Who?]
We are a local group for providing information to the Worcester public and surrounding areas about the mounting threat of ID cards and the invasion on our freedoms and privacy that the accompanying database - The National Identity Register will bring upon us.
Why Should I Care?
- Your wallet will. The cards will not be free. How about fines upwards of £1000 for forgetting to notify the government of a change of address, not sending them the card of member of family whom is recently deceased.
- Your city will. The scheme over 10 years could use as much as 18 million pounds of your tax payers money which could pay for:
80 New Hospitals
1,600 New Schools
30,000 More Police Officers
£3 per Week on Pensions
I’m sure you could think of something your taxes could be spent on to improve your local area other than another expensive piece of ID that we dont need.
- Your Nightlife will. Like the idea of being fingerprinted in your favourite local club bar? Waiting for the scanner to tell them its okay for you to enjoy a drink? Not driving, so you think you’ll have a few more? Come transformation government policy sharing the data of the fingerprinted persons with the NIR, insurance companies with enough money will be able to examine your drinking habits and increase the cost of your insurance!
Im a Student, I dont need to care about this do I?
- Like your live music/gigs?
When ID cards are brought in, you will need to produce to get on a Plane or a Train. With the UK government’s history of I.T Projects, what happens when your cards get scanned and there is a problem? Sadly without a lift, you’re stuck there with concert tickets and no way to get there. Convenient eh?
- Like the little money you have?
These things are definitely not free. With costs at the bargain (lol!) price of 200 quid could your budget stand that sorta money? What about 1000 quid fines if you forget to update it or lose it. Easy to do during/after a big night out eh?
